Default strop and Bay Rum in the mail

Ogallala Bay Rum Soap and Aftershave are in the mail. I'm still looking for a nice bowl for the soap. I keep all my soaps in their own bowl. A replacement Vintage Blades strop is in the mail as well, I purchased both a strop and a leather replacement.

So I'll end up with two strops. The one I learned on is rather cut up. I haven't cut the strop in about three months now, so I figured it was time to get a replacement. If this equipment makes it for six months or a year or so, I'll start thinking about a really nice handmade strop.

The oldest one, once repaired, will get used for pastes. I've been having really good luck with CrOx on linen.

    Best,

    Ed

I love my DE89L even though it doesn't get much use these days. I hope you enjoy yours.

This morning it would have been more. Just took delivery of a Thiers-Issard 889 Spartacus 6/8.Looked to be in excellent condition, so cleaned it with Denatured Alcohol, put it on the CrOx bench strop, then to linen belt finished with a Latigo strop. Will be tomorrow's shave. Still waiting for my 100 Feather DE blades, been a while. And finally should be getting W & B with barber's notch later in the week.

No longer in the mail, I received a Gold Dollar (for practice once I get some stones) and a Boker Edelweiss. I guess I will be trying a straight today. I found it interesting that for two razors advertised as the same size the Boker is at least an 1/8 narrower and a half ounce lighter. The quality difference can be felt as soon as you pick them up.

The Boker has much more quality steel which is why it is narrower & lighter. The steel is much stronger too which is why they can make 'em narrower & lighter. I bet it is easier to hone too. GD has to make theirs wider & heavier to try to have a stronger steel but there's no comparison. The Boker remains a winner while the GD is a practice razor. Myself, I don't own any GD's & won't waste my hones on them but if you need practice, you have your practice razor.

I ordered it from the Bisbee Coffee Company here in Arizona. I try to get my coffee from local roasters.

Have you tried caveman coffee? They are very stringent on their beans. The white gold is phenomenal.
