Griffiths Shaving Goods recently restocked their coticule inventory. When I looked at the web page, I spotted an obvious natural combo priced the same as the regular ones and sent Matt an email pointing this out.


His reply:

Yep it’s a natural combo.
Aredennes sometimes slip a couple into my orders.
I usually just leave them at the same price as the standard stones as a little “Easter egg” for my more observant customers.
I’m surprised no one has grabbed it yet!

It’s on its way to a new home in Ontario.

Got these in the mail today. Lufkin! I remember the name from years ago as quality stuff. They are tarnished a little bit but not rust and the threads are clean. Adjust like a new set.

While I had one, it seemed to have given up the ghost so I ordered a new one.

I spent this evening re sharpening 21 twisty, round, pointed and hard items in various lengths.

Any guesses of what landed today?

While they aren't perfect they do a decent job.

The last time I was at my departed friend (Benz) home, he was working on a job in his shop and his drill bit needed sharpened so he took it to the dedicated grinder he used for drill bit and lathe specific use and quickly sharpened the bit.

I asked if he was sure the angle was correct and he shrugged then pulled a drill gauge out of a drawer and it was dead on at 118 degs.

I always admire anyone who can sharpen by hand whether it be a drill bit or a knife as it is an art of it's own.

So when you get a pretty decent drill press what do you do? Sharpen the twist drills you already have AND buy more drills for it.

Every once in awhile I'm in need of a Forstner Bit and I'll either take the project to Ski's and drill what I need there or he'll let me borrow his set. I pulled the trigger on this set from Rockler.



Of course I got the 'Noid' in that one of the plastic pieces that locks the lid shut was broken inside of the factory packaging--I'd read a review that it had happened to someone else and I thought 'What are the chances of that ever happening'--looks like the chances are pretty good

It is unfortunate, but a big rubber band made from an inner tube will fix that up.

I know, I know, that's the first thing that I thought of but finding old inner tubes isn't like it was when I was a kid.

Just yesterday I had a new tire and tube put on the Harley, I could have used that old tube with some contact cement. Oh well.
