Quit being lazy!!

I used to do fewer laps on leather as the op and also found more is better. I usually do around 60 now. If I really want it sharp I put the blade in my pyramid frame for the week of the first full moon on leap year, but you have to be real careful when it is that sharp.....

That reminds me of a car wash company here that used to run an ad saying "a clean car runs better." I just can't picture a razor edge recuperating from an extra day off.

I agree, but then I can't imagine a lot of things happening that members discuss on this forum.

As to 'not being lazy'... my routine is 20 linen/70-80 leather before shaving and 10/25-30 after (I also occasionally lose track of the exact count and do more). Seems to work for me. I have a theoretical 5 day rotation, assuming I recall which razor I use the day before. Yes, I'm old.

Yep. I found this out a couple months ago. Now, I'll do 4-7 CrOx passes on felt and leather, then strop til I feel like it(never less than 50 passes).

I will hand strop between passes just because its novel and *might* make a bit of difference. I clean off the razor then strop it ~20 laps to make sure the moisture is off the edge.

I will go back to the the 4-7 passes on CrOx every 5 shaves or so. Basing on how I feel, I may even decide to refresh the edge on the 12K. What the hey. Only takes 5 minutes and puts a smile on my face as well as giving me additional honing practice-proper pressure and technique.

As per "finning"- the idea seems pretty strange to me.

To the $40 sprays--he's obviously got a market and his uber sharpening pyramid scheme he's got going probably does pretty nicely, *BUT* to me, this seems to be pretty expensive and extremely time consuming versus what I do now. I'm happy with the shaves I get with my current prep, but when I'm not, I point the finger squarely at myself. I go back to basics and careful stropping. As I've said before, 30 careful, deliberate laps on the leather beats 70 high-paced laps.

Different strokes for different folks.

One can also do a dozen or so careful, effective laps instead of a lot of relatively ineffective ones.
