Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'm sold. Or not sold I should say.
The paddle strop has a metal plate on both sides, and there is a thin, flexible, magnetic strip affixed to and covering the bottom of the pads. Together? A marriage made in Heaven. Secure when joined, yet easy to separate... a divorce lawyer's dream. But you'll have to ask Lynn about any pre-nup.
I, personally, would recommend that you at least look at, if not buy from, the razors that SRP Member/Vendor Manah (Alex Tseitlin) has for sale. Based in Israel, Alexs offers "wedgier" grinds in predominantly 5/8"-sized blades, generally with spike points, which he has restored and honed to shave-ready condition. It is well-worth looking at his website:
STRAZORS.com - all about classic razors - Home page -- lots to be found there of interest, besides straight razors for sale. The prices are excellent, and include shipping internationally. At this moment, I can count five razors substantially under $100, which would be wonderful additions to any straight-razor shaver's rotation. If you don't buy one or two of them, someones else, will.
Or... you can take your chances with offerings on eBay...
+1 to JBHoren
The Classifieds are a phenomenal source of great, quality razors, and in many cases, somewhat harder to get razors.
Manah is also a great source, I've relied on him a few times with questions I've had and he has always been very helpful. He also sells some great stuff...
So would this razor be "shave ready?" Obie do you hone your own razors?
