Hello all, I am taking the plunge into straight razor shaving soon. I just won an auction for a restored shave ready EWK Tryon 3/T razor from the 1920s or earlier. There's not much info on the brand that I can find. It is a 5/8 3" razor with square point.

The the razor itself has been polished and honed, rescaled with rosewood, and has the original mother of pearl on the tang. Looking forward to receiving it and getting started. I have DE shaved for the last 2 years.

Welcome to SRP. Can you tell us who the seller is? Might be someone on SRP and if so, it should be truly shave ready, if not then it would be questionable. You may want to pick up a second razor from one of the vendors here for comparison, might as well get a jump on developing RAD. Have you purchased a strop? That will be your next step along with soap and a brush. Learning how to strop properly will give you hours of frustration as well. Check out all the information that is available here in the Library.

Sellers name was "moostashio". I do need to pick up strop, but I do have a few badger hair brushes, and bowl/soaps as I have been shaving with an Edwin Jagger DE89Lbl for a few years. Just a simple progression to straight razors. If it doesn't shave better than the DE than I will have it re-honed.

Nice razor! Just one thing: If it doesn't shave as close as your DE just yet, it could be you and maybe not the razor. Just that to consider. It takes quite a while to master the technique of straight razor shaving, but you've probably read all that here already.

    Best wishes,
