Is water bad for a strop. I noticed it got wet when I used it today.
yes, strop=leather and water dies leather out.
Conditioning it with a little leather conditioner of some kind is a good idea.

If you just sprinkled some by accident and wiped it right off, I don't see that damaging the strop.
As a hobby leathercrafter I can tell you, a little water won't hurt the leather. After all the cow stood ages in the rain without any problems:w
All jokes aside, let it dry at the air naturally. Do not place your strop on a heating source of some kind. After drying, apply some dressing to the strop to keep it fed. A little stropdressing, or all the other stuff mentioned in this forum would be OK.
If your strop is wet all through, do the same. Let it air dry followed by some dressing. All you will see, is a darker spot on the strop where it was wettened.
One thing is very important: keep the strop absolutely flat while drying. Otherwise it will keep the shape!
(Now you know how knife sheaths etc. are made...)
I have some yellow strop paste on the way and am wondering if I can apply it to all sides of the strop. 3 sides that are pasted and the one latigo leather side. So it will condition
