Hello all, I have noticed a light residue left on my blade that won't seem to come off. Is this a result of a bad lather?
I find you need to give the blade a good cleaning after the shave or you will get this residue....seems some do, some don't.
After my shave, a good rinsing in hot water, then I take a towel and really give the edges of the blade a solid rubbing / drying / polishing motion, back under the hot water for a final rinse, then dry with toilet paper, and let air dry for an hour.
Another member here cleans the razor post shave with an alcohol rub, for the very reason you mention...
We'd need to see a picture. Could be because it wasn't dried properly. I don't think there's anything like a 'bad lather' unless you're using some weird concoction. Things like Aloe Vera can stain blades...

Some soaps will leave more residue than others. If it is the soap you will see it in you sink and on you scuttle or cup if you use one.
As said you should clean your razor thoroughly after each shave. That same residue will turn to rust in hours. Hot water and a microfiber will remove new residue, metal polish should clean the blade, you will still have to deal with the bevel with a linen strop.
Thanks for the replies. Turns out I wasn't cleaning the blade enough after the shave. Little elbow grease and a towel and residue came right off.
And watch your fingers ! :<0) It doesn't hurt to thoroughly clean your blades once in awhile. I think a little protection from the polish after that helps.
