That's interesting. The angle that I need to hold my razor to get a very smooth shave on my neck is a bit awkward, but then again I've been shaving with a straight razor for less than a week. Anyhow, I've wondered if those curved blades were hype or did they give some advantage. Good info AndrewJM.

My very first Straight Razor shave was on a Sunday afternoon
I did all the normal newbie mistakes - lather was too dry, too much pressure, went for full face shave with a cheapie Pakistan razor I thought was sharp.
Razor burn was painful for sure as were the cuts.
Then I found SRP and started the journey to learn a lifetime skill.
With months of learning and patience the skills have become much better.
Perseverance is the key for anybody into straight razor shaving.
Every time I shave something else is learned.
Enjoy the process - it is definitely worth it.
Never fear chaps, I carry a straight and a mobile strop with me wherever I am. Actually, with the G20 in Bris-vegas for the next few weeks I guess I shouldn't be carrying a straight with me but whatever...
For those who wondered, in fact I have a reference hair. I had it surgically enhanced so it is exactly the right length, is fluorescent yellow, and stands straight up. So I always know when it is time to shave. Though I have to say I like the idea of a bat signal... :D

Yes you can take longer in the evening, but the feeling of going to work straight after a shave is much nicer for me. Yes I get up 20-30 mins earlier to but I enjoy doing it.

You mentioned getting into bed after a sweet shave. I'm surprised nobody else mentions this. I shave at night and get into bed...I'm married.
