Like the first time, all over again...
It's been a month or so since I took the straight razor plunge. I've been enjoying it, but suspected my blades aren't quite as sharp as they could be. I haven't been getting the knife-through-butter feel I've read about on these forums, and no amount of stropping seems to help. I was starting to have doubts about the whole endeavor. Until tonight.
I got a new razor, a lovely Rocca 5/8 from eBay. Different seller than the fellow who sold me my first two blades. Although it's probably my 14th or 15th shave, I consoder it my first REAL shave. Man, a truly sharp blade makes all the difference. What a pleasure! This is a shave I can look forward to in the morning. My face is smoother than a Barry White ballad and feels great; hardly any irritation (something that had been bothering me before with the other razors). I have seen the top of the mountain, and it is good.:bow
So for all the first timers still sruggling, know that there is hope! Also, if you're still browsing eBay for your first blade, I can personally testify that http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gifaltima55 delivers the goods. Just keep your dirty mitts off that Imperial 6/8. It's mine, you hear?! Mine! Bwhahahah!:D
