Awesome Wife

I had been funneling money to my daughter to buy me a Straight for my birthday. Just before my birthday my wife went to Vegas with some friends and I had my daughter for a four day weekend. I decided to spend the money to take my daughter to San Francisco for our very first father daughter trip without mom and skip getting myself a razor until a later date.

My wife saved the data on the straight and bought me a Ralf Aust 5/8 and a 3-inch strop for Christmas from Straight Razor Designs. She didn't know about the brush, mug and soap so I had to wait for my first shave. We went on vacation to San Francisco for New Years (with mom this time) and I bought the mug, soap and brush while there. First shave was yesterday. SUCSESS! I only did the cheeks and left the moustache and chin whiskers. Used both hands, left hand for left side. I can't wait until tomorrow to do it again.

Thanks to all on this sight who helped me with information on this wonderful ritual.

I bought a shaving kit from The Art of Shaving. They had a store in SF. I bought the sandal wood kit, it came with the fine badger hair brush. The mug I bought is a two piece. Mug and bowl. Hot water in the mug to keep the lather warm in the bowl. They were a bit expensive, but they were right there and I couldn't wait any longer to try out the razor. I would have rather bought them from SRD, but it was available and I went for it. I'll put up pics when I purge my phone. No storage left.
