Start regularly rubbing your strop with the palm of your hand. A few times a year wipe it down with a barely damp wash-cloth and then wipe it dry with another cloth a few minutes later.
look at a recent thread i have in the show & tell section , titled my new old strop , there are 2 links in there that maybe useful to you ..
my new/newer strops i have always just used my hand ..
Agreed, palm of your hand should be enough.
During winter here though, it's gets very dry, and occasionally I will use a dime sized dollop of Fromm's Strop Dressing, using a soft cloth, I use circles and rub it thoroughly in. I just restored an old Double Duck strop, and after cleaning the leather, it was dry and rock hard, after a few applications of the conditioner, it seems to have regained some pliability and feels like a strop rather than a wooden plank.
Palm rub. I have one that I was not to into and just kept working it each morning. Two months of use and it is now a favorite. Just needed some time to break in and some rubbing.
For used older strips I like saddle soap to clean it then rub to get the oils spread evenly
