I have read a lot about people showering prior to shaving, but I've always shaved prior to showering. It's working fine for me, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Don't know, I just get up and shave. Only way to find out is to try showering first then shave. All you have to loose is a little dirt. ;)

If I'm going to cut my hair (with clippers) or trim the beard (with clippers), I prefer to do that before I shower, so the shower gets rid of the trimmed hair. But for shaving, I have found that I get a better shave after I shower.
Gotta try both several times and see what works best for you. The only right answer is the one that meets your needs.
i usually (probably even) shave in the evening, in the morning i'm too tired and lazy . Shower after shave work fine because your skin is hydrated better by continous water
I've always shaved before showering. Never really given it any thought, just always done it that way.
I don't shower, I take a bath. Soothes the back I have.
Place preshave oil on first, bath then shave.
I have always shaved first showered second. When I started wet shaving I tried both ways. I still shave first. I like the calming time with two hot towels in a row. I went to DEs for a couple weeks and showered first, saved a little time but the experience was different. For me, hot towels are the way of my shave. Without that I may as well use can goo and a Bic (just kidding, those days are gone)
Shave then shower for me. Gives a chance for exfoliating etc after that way.
I think Esposito showers before AND after
This thread has YMMV writtten all over it.
I hot water shower before then it's all cold water shaving.
I adhere to the 3 "S" 's :)
