Stepping up to the plate as a beginner

Good evening folks. I just joined up and pretty exited to find a place to go to for help on STraight razor shaving. I've been kicking srs for years, finding this club took me over the edge. Hope to purchase my equipment soon.

If you are wondering while you are shopping do a search for past threads on the stuff you are looking at. Most of it has been discussed before but if you can't find it just ask, there is enough of us here someone will speak up soon enough.

You will be looking for 6 basic items
Straight razor - (shave ready) from reputable dealer or SRP Classifieds
Strop - block strop will do nicely
Soap - Tub, tube or stick. Any one will do
Brush - most any will do at this stage
Alum block - most recommend
Nice smelling after shave balm
Then you can S.L.A.M.!!!!

i just joined here too and the guys on here have been great they try to help you out with every question you have.
i know that there is so much to read on here and now know that str8 razor shaving isn't like shaving with a Mach 3 you can't just go out and buy one and think I'm going to get the closest shave imaginable.
It's a skill that takes time to learn. any questions you have about it just ask the guys will try to answer it or send you in the right direction for the answer.
Your putting an extra sharp blade near things you might want to keep on your face or atleast i like my nose and ears where they are.
The best advise i can give is take it slow and stick with it. i really enjoy it now and look forward to my daily shave.
