Need advice on shaving my chin

I've only been using a straight razor for 3 days now but I'v gotten decent shaves everywhere but my chin. When I try to shave my chin the blade normally just stops or it feels like it's pulling the hair instead of cutting it. I know that every chin is different so what works for someone might not work for me but I would really appreciate any advice I can get.

If the razor stops or feels like it's pulling, then that's a sign that it is dull and needs a touch-up. A sharp razor should slice right through like everywhere else.

I was worried that might be the case.

You would not be the first guy to mess up the edge on his blade from poor stropping or mishandling.

Sometimes, the chin is a harder area to master as well. Grab a baseball and hold it in one hand. In your other hand, work the razor around the baseball like you are shaving the cover off it but obviously don't touch the razor to the ball. That motion is similar to what you need to do to keep the cutting angle as you shave your chin. The baseball practice should help educate your hand and finger muscles and improve your technique. Take on the chin a little at a time with light short strokes. It will get better.

Three shaves in is probably a sign that technique and angles are the problem rather than the razor. How many times have we come across the phenomenem that the more I shave the more my razor gets sharper?

It could very well be that my technique and angles are incorrect but wouldn't that make shaving the rest of face harder? It only sticks when i shave my chin.

I agree that angles and stretching could be part of the problem, bear in mind that the angle of the razor in your hand or the angle of your hand to your face is going to need to subtly change as you work your way around the curves. Figuring out the best stretch can be tricky too.

It may also pay to map your growth o your chin, i have 3 different sections that all need to be attacked differently.
