Filarmonica doble temple #14 Jose’ Monserrat Pou
About 25 years ago I wanted to try straight razor shaving and bout this razor, didn't buy a strop or stone. Used it for about a month to learn, cut my face up good but got the hang of it by the time it got dull.
I put it away and haven't used it since. I started using a safety razor about 4 years ago and love it. A few months ago I got the bug to buy a new straight razor and strop and stone. Well while doing the internet search thing since. My wife found my Filamonica. Its in pretty good shape no gouges or chips, just dull.
I just ordered the 4000/8000 wet stone and a Illinois 827 strop.
Can anyone tell me about this razor. from what I see it must have been NOS when I bought it.

The #14 Filarmonica is considered to be a great-shaving straight razor and is highly sought. If it's in mint condition even better.
You might consider sending the razor to a professional to be honed. There is a section in the SRP classifieds titled Members Services where you can find contact info for honers.

It happens to be a very popular brand right now. I would think you would fall over if you remembered what you paid for it then and what a NOS sells for today. I hope you do well with it and it is probably better if you start with it pro honed. It is tough to learn to shave and hone at the same time. Go into it slowly you will bleed less.

Would you believe I paid about 80 or $90 for it. I'll post pics tonight. I even have the original box. It has never been honed or stropped

almost too good to be true. you did very well way back then. this is the very razor I shave with regularly, I have square tip, and two round tips exactly like yours.
Unless you know how to hone, don't even try. This is a precious blade these days. Spend the $15 to $25 to have it pro honed and you will be in good shape.

btw: you should learn to strop properly and prepare to do this before and after each and every shave. lots of good info on that here. if you maintain that blade in the normal way, it will treat you very well. all the fillys I have are wonderful, they feel soft and smooth on the face.
