Not like riding a bike....
I've been SR shaving for almost 2 years, and have gotten really comfortable with the process and my great array of straights. Make that "had" gotten comfortable, then I hit a snag in my routine.
I had to travel, off & on, business mostly, but pleasure too for a month, and traditionally when I travel it is with a DE...it is just simpler for me. When I got hit with these back to back trips, I stuck with the DE routine, and just couldn't find a way in these "one small bag trips" to fit in SR gear.
Finally home to my beloved SRs, I whip up a great lather, strop a couple up (so I can have a choice), prep my face in my usual almost cold water and lather up. Grab my straight and realize that I'm learning all over again. My weeks of being as lazy as possible with DE shaves has eroded my brain and muscle memories and that first new SR shave was a slow, crazy one. It took me two passes to get even a passable shave, but by the third pass I was getting my memory back.
Luckily, no face parts were harmed during this new intro to the art, and within three days, I was back to my usual comfort level. Glad to be home!
