Got my Straight Razor.
 I am enjoying the shave that the Ralf Aust 5\8" straight razor set from straighrazordesigns.com has provided.Attachment 199630I am taking it slow from side burn to jaw. Within a few days I have become more comfortable crossing the chin and jaw line. I still use the double edge on my neck.

As they say slow is smooth smooth is fast. When I first started I didn't know about this forum. I just saw a store in the mall that sold straights (The Art of Shaving) and the guys suggested a shavette and thats really all the advice he had. So I tried to shave my whole face at once and sliced myself pretty bad. Took me a few weeks to muster up the courage to go back at it again. Of course thats when I started googling how to shave with a straight razor and then found this site.
Definitely a good set up you have there. Never had a Ralf Aust but of course never heard anything bad about them especially when coming from SRD.

Congratulations on your new straight.

Attachment 200125This was my shave preference after my little boy went to sleep. Feels good. I am still being careful and slow with the straight razor. I am getting more comfortable with it.

I very much like my 5/8 Aust, great razor for the price. You'll feel more comfortable with it each day and the shaves will also continue to improve. I tried not to rush and to try new areas/angles etc only when it felt right. Good luck and enjoy.

I shaved a little bit too fast today.

Go slow this isn't a gillette. You definitely have to get used to the difference haha.
