My wife found this at her great aunts with an original rusted blade. I got some Personna blades. So this is my other ride.

I started with a shavette, before building courage to try a straight. In hindsight I now understand how fierce that exposed replaceable blade is. It did teach me respect for really sharp things.
Family Heirlooms are the best!
First try was a fillet, second was much better. Need a few more tries before I rotate the straight razor back in.
In the beginning I found it very useful to use each razor for a week. It probably no longer makes any difference but I still do it most of the time.
That makes sense.
My first was a shavette as well. Will teach you to respect the blade very quickly.
Shaved my cheeks with the shavette tonight. A little latter I got a bug in my butt to shave down to a goatee. I got out the Gold Dollar and did that. It is very nice. I like both but have a way to go.
Yeah MattCB it certainly forces you to be more cognizant of techniques.
