New comers To The Art should contact celticcrusader for advice Honing + Shaving

If like myself you are new to the art of straight razor shaving, and you are looking for some help and advice regarding honing, picking the correct first razor, brushes etc. I strongly suggest that you contact celticcrusader, as not only did he show me everything I needed to know he also Honed my razor to get it shave ready.I am creating this thread in order to make it as easy as possible for new comers to get the advice they need, also I would like to thank Jamie for all his help as it was greatly appreciated. Jamie is special and I too have learned from many of his posts, but for those newcomers who, like I am, have more than 12000 miles and a "few" time zones between their location and Jamie's, the other best advice I would give is to read everything you can here about SR shaving, watch the videos that are linked, pay attention to the number of posts folks have made, and watch for the tag in their profile that says "mentor". To a person, I have found all of them to be knowledgeable and helpful, and always quick to add a word of wisdom to a post that might be going astray. They also respond to PMs, and often can be found near your location.

Go slowly in everything, including buying "stuff". One or 2 quality items of every category are all you need. That will not be all you "want", and you will acquire more over time.

Ask questions, and listen to the answers, especially from those "mentor" folks and prolific senior members like Jamie. They know their stuff.

Most of all, enjoy yourself, and your shaving, and even more the new friends and acquaintances you will make from all over the world, if you're open to advice.

I can only echo Mathew's sentiments... Jamie is a true gent.

Jamie has always welcomed my questions and has given me sound advice. There are a lot of very knowledgeable gentlemen on this forum, but he is the one I most frequently turn to for expert advice. He also has one fine looking dog.
