Those are fine choices to start your wetshaving future with. If you are new to all of this take
time to read as much as you can in our library which will give you confidence to begin. Besides a shave ready razor the most important thing to remember is always be aware of where that blade is on your face as you shave. Enjoy and welcome to the forum.
Looks like you made some fine choices to start!! Nothin to be scared of! In a year or so you'll be a pro!! :rofl2:
Seriously thou, been at it since March and have gotten so much better. Take it slow and try a dominate hand cheek from sideburns down to jawline. It's the bends and curves that get tricky. Still nick my chin occasionally because when I " flex " my chin it gets craters like the damn moon! Gotta stop doing that!!
Good luck, have fun and remember " slow and steady wins the race "!
I have used those very products many times, except the strop, mine is a hanging strop. Might I suggest you put your location in so people near you can step forward should you need local help.
Co congrats on your purchase. Enjoy the best way to shave, and the smoothest..... Once ya get the hang of it.
Let the ADs begin [emoji6]
That's a great starter package.
Make sure the razor is "shave ready." Not all new ones are.
Enjoy!!

That is a great way to begin! Take it slow and step back if you start to get frustrated:) it will take awhile but the effort is worth it!
Good stuff to start whit. Relax and Let the razor do his job.
You're off and running, take her slow and easy and you will be just fine.
Well I had my first shave.
What an experience! It was possibly the most stressful thing I have done in awhile.
Putting something that sharp on my face was interesting.
So I managed to NOT cut myself which I thought was good.
I'm having an issue with doing my neck and perhaps someone can comment.
The hair on my neck grows in 3 different directions. I'm not sure if this is a common problem but I would think I'm not the only one.
Any tips on how to deal with that?
Cheers!
Steve
+1 to sticking with the down stroke.....if the ends up cutting xtg so be it. More strokes later..Enjoy!
Stay with the WTG stroke for the first 10 or 20 shaves, then move to the XTG stroke on your cheek area for another 10 or so, then move to ATG, on the neck area, takes time, my neck area has multiple direction whisker growth as well, and I angle up my ATG strokes now - I have to use an almost scything stroke on the neck, which comes with experience and learning how to shave your beard pattern.
Another month or two, and you'll be shaving like this old forum member (this is the video that got me into straight shaving!:D):

I'm about a month and a half into straights after a couple years with DEs. My growth pattern is crazy on my neck as well, and I had to stay WTG with DEs. I started just as JOB15 recommended, and now I go N to S, then S to N, and get a great shave without irritation. Just stick with it and you'll be glad you did.
