Suppose the first things to nail down is budget, width ( between 2 and 3 inch) and draw. Not all manufacturer's have options in all sizes. The leather plays a part too. Not everyone does cordovan or shell. I like shell or cordovan in 2 1/2 inch so that narrows it significantly. Also for that means its a higher budget. I also like barber's ends so also refines the search. Figure out what you want then ask what is good for those parameters and we can give you a much better answer than just throwing maker's names at you
Thanks. Actually, I've pretty much decided on one of Lynn's strops. So thanks again to all of you!
As long as it's good smooth leather it dies the same job, it's the different type draws that makes them different. Some like heavy draw , some like light draw, that's the difference in the strops, plus cost us all about what you want too. Tc
Yea, but not having familiarity with all the strops, how would one rank them: leather finish vs draw? I would guess that with all the wax, etc that the Latigo would have a pretty heavy draw, whereas bridal leather would be a very light draw. I haven't seen any references anywhere to which finishes are heavy, medium or light. It would be nice to see some sort of ranking, even if it's just a general rule of thumb rather than dead on accurate.
Correction: The information I was seeking can be found here for SRD strops, supposedly. http://www.straightrazormagazine.com...igns-full.html
