Is it just me or does anyone else have or had trouble with shaving their chin. I get some of the hair off but I can still see stubble there when I look in the mirror.
Also I am using Williams shaving soap and it seem to dry out pretty quick after I apply it. Is it because it's a cheap soap?
I hear ya. Chin has got to be the worst. How do you stretch that part?
I'm a bit freaked around the adams apple too. and the spot where my foo man choo handlebars used to be hasn't taken to straights yet. Thankfully the only irritation I get.
Got an excuse to try new soaps? Go find your fit bro. I bet if you write Colleen she will be all over an answer for you. I can't wait to use up my soaps so I can try her stuff out.
Its not the soap. Chins require a sharp blade and experience, go carefully and lightly.

A.F is right, chins are probably the most difficult area to master along with the upper lip or coup de madre. It seems simple but its not and experience is the key. I usually just start at the top of my bottom lip and go straight down and around my chin in one stroke. It probably took me 6 months before I was able to do that maneuver. And before I mastered it.. Oh the pain, the pain!
Okay, I had a feeling that the chin was going to give me a hard time. I'm just gald to hear that I aint the only one to have problems with it.
My question aboput the soap relly didn't deal with that though. I was just wondering if the reason it dries out quick is something that that particular soap does.
Williams does have a tendency to dry quickly... on the rare occasions that i use it i add a little Palmolive cream to it and it works much nicer... Palmolive cream is generally available in CVS, Walgreen's and other drug store chains, probably right next to the Williams.Quote:

I've been using a straight for 3 days now and I too can attest to the difficulty with the chin area. It is getting better, but still a sticking point in my shave.
Lather drying out (I've had that issue as well), can be corrected with more water. Also, try using cooler water and not scalding hot water. The hotter the water the faster the dry out due to faster evaporation. You can also add more water and relather as needed or just lather the area to be shaved immediately.

By the way I found a couple of things that I was doing wrong. I think the big culprit was in my hurry to start shaving, I decided to use one of my wifes elastic hairbands to hang my strop on. Needless to say I don't think I was getting the strop tight enough to work right. Opps!! The second thing I did was take my time and I really slowed myself down. I still ahve a burning sensation on my neck but not quite as bad.

Tabac bowl is kinda big, but if you can't find the sticks you may just cut the soap up?

I also started with that soap but quickly learne that it leaves a lot to be desired. A better quality soap will make it easier to obtain a good shave.Quote:
