I'd look for a vintage piece in good shape. Check our buy-sell page. Beware of new cheapo razors that are floating around out there that.
Welcome to SRP!
Start by reading the Beginner's Section in the Library, it will answer a lot of your questions.
Feel free to ask us anything that you have questions about.
For low cost I'd recommend the classifieds or WhippedDog.com. Stay away from the cheap stuff on ebay.
Thanks guys,I am from India,so I was looking for something that would reach me quick. The sales page here is mostly from USA or Canada. My grampa had a pretty good SR,used to say it was a french product.
Welcome to the SRP, here's three pointers full hollow a round point and a 6/8 will serve you well.
Welcome to SRP. Do barbers in India still do straight razor shaves ? Back in the 1980s, when most USA barbers had stopped doing them, I used to go to barber shops and buy old straight razors from the old barbers. Usually relatively cheap. Try an old barber, they usually have a dozen or so old razors laying around. :gl:
Welcome to SRP. You've come to one of the best places to get started. Good luck finding a decent razor. Understand you're in a hurry but take your time and find a good one at a decent price.

Wow!this is awesome,such a great response for a newcomer,really,appreciate it.
Welcome to the forum. Not sure, but you may be the first member from India. Good luck.
First welcome to the forum. Now for your first razor i would suggest a round point 5/8 or 6/8 as far as the point goes. The classifieds here would be a good place to start. SRD is also a good place to find a good razor and if it comes from either one it usually shave ready. I know that SRD razors come shave ready and may come with a the first re-hone free. but no matter where you buy your first razor make sure it is shave ready. Pleas watch all the you tube videos on straight razors and shaving. Very informative. again welcome.
