    Default Honing question

Hi, I have just received a small honing stone which is 50mm x 20mm. May I know what is the best technique to hone a straight razor on such a tiny stone?

Hi Gary, I doubt that it would be possible to hone a razor on such a tiny surface. It's possible that what you have is a small offcut intended to raise a slurry on a full sized hone. I have an offcut from a Chinese Guangxi hone that someone made for this purpose.

Hi, oh I see. It was advertised as a sharpening stone on Ali express.. Was on a real tight budget, so couldn't afford anything costly..

Better question would be is it up to honing a razor. It would need to be finer than most advertised sharpening stones. There are many sharpening stones for use on various tools etc and not all are usable for razors. 4 x 1 inch is probably about as small as you can reasonably go to hone easily.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
