I've been shaving with a safety razor for quite a while now. I came across a dubl duck special #1 in some of my grandfather's things. I would like to restore and use it but the blade looks uneven, I imagine from improper sharpening at some point. Can this blade be salvaged or it it just a keepsake?

Either the pictures aren't great quality, my phone sucks, or my eyes have taken a turn. But it looks to me that it is in decent shaped and could be cleaned right up and honed in no time. I would look through classifieds / vendor page for professional honing help. Could look in directory too, as maybe there is someone nearby who could give you some hands on help that would go a long way.

Problem is when I lie the edge on a level, I can see daylight under the blade towards the center. I had started cleaning up one side of the blade when I noticed the issue. I polish my motorcycle constantly and used some of the same products and techniques. Thanks for the replies!

I would say it does have a frown on the edge. it isn't so bad that it couldn't be honed out, but definitely send it to a pro.

From one Newbie to another I would put out where it is you are located. From posts I've read and my personal experience you would probably find a member that would give you valuable info.
Everything from somebody close to your location to hone to general Starting out info.

Hmmm, 24 hours ago I was in Rock Hill, SC with my hones. Oh well....
Check in the classifieds of this site, there are people there that do restoration and honing.
Or if you want to continue cleaning the blade up, just keep in mind that as you clean sometimes the bevel gets sharp and will bite you.
