barber shops around here cut hair. If you want a shave, forget about it. Its like a lost art. Plus I've been all over town and cant find a single barber that is reliable, come to work when they should and dont just skin me. I guess its because of so many military in the area. I like to have a little to comb sense I'm not bald. Yet!
hey WB, im in lancaster. how far is that from lewisburg? im far from a pro but i do hone my own razors so would be happy to take a look at yours. or maybe even lone you one of mine to compare apples-to-oranges. no need to buy another just to see if what youve got is shave-ready.
if interested just let me know. im doing a lot of travelling these next few weekends but can work something out.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I took Dieseld's advice and sent it out Straight Razor Designs for a proper honing. It's likely that I need to work on my angle and technique too, but I'll have more confidence doing that if I know the blade has been professionally honed. Sloanwinters, thanks for the offer, but I'm about 2 hrs north of Lancaster and rarely get down that way.
As you will discover there are *many* variables that contribute to a great shave. By taking this option, you are effectively eliminating one of those variables: good move. :tu
When you get it back, take your time. Go slow, use light pressure, stretch your skin, and take the time to prep and lather properly. With a properly honed blade and with those factors taken into account, you should have a much better experience. Good luck!
