SRP,
I am struggling with getting good foam with colonial conks shave soap, but doing just fine with shave cream. Well, it's time to re-order. Suggestions on a shave cream. I like heavy scents, particularly lavender and lemon.

Castle Forbes is a must try cream. They have versions in lavender, lime, and cedar & sandalwood.
You might also try some soaps other than Conk. D.R. Harris and Tabac are good ones. Arko is another performer but some don't like the scent.
You cannot go wrong with Castle Forbes; I absolutely love their shaving cream and post-shave balm!
If you have a Body Shop store nearby get a free sample of their Maca Root shave cream to try out.

C.F. no other can compare.
Read the entire, but lengthy thread on First Tier Soaps and creams. This is what I did, and I learned a great deal. This is my best advice to you.
Also, remember it's not the neat artwork on the tin that makes a fine product; it's what is inside that counts for everything!
Thank you. I am a sucker for good packaging.
Aside from Col Conk, I use Mama Bear's and Captain's Choice. Good stuff in my book.
You probably have the Col Conk original glycerine soap which isn't well thought of among shaving enthusiasts. You don't mention which cream you have. I have found Col Conk's new Natual's Cream to be good stuff.
Many have suggested Castle Forbes, which is a great cream. I view Baum.be equal in quality to Castle Forbes. Baum.be is about $28 for 250 ml and CF is about $40 for 200 ml.
I wouldn't give up on soap based on experience with Col Conk's glycerine soap. Tabac, Stirling, Barrister & Mann and Soap Commander also make good everyday soaps. Klar Seifen is an elite tier soap.
