Lots to learn but a fun start.
It gets better with each shave. Keep your razor sharp and your mind open to continue learning.
Day 2:

Day 3: Learning has occurred, but I gotta upgrade the crappy brush I got from Colonel Conk's clearance specials.

Would love to post it there but I couldn't find the thread.
Here's the link:

For some reason it's not brought up a lot but there is a very handy way to search for things here at SRP. If you look at the Top Right Hand Side of the Welcome Page you will find an Advanced Search Box. Type in what you are looking for and chances are you'll find it there. That is how I found the link that I just posted.
I hope this pic works and that this has been of some help.
See the Box and Arrow in RED.

Good show-Too bad about the cheapo brush and the cut, but at least you have a fine Solingen razor, so it can only get better. My 1st brush was a $15 Tweezerman; it works fine, and I still use it occasionally!
If you PM me your address I'll give a nice brush from my collection. If you like badger brushes. This is the brush, Dan

VERY cool, Doc! 1 more thing about cuts: let the razor do the work-never force it or use pressure. If it feels like it "needs" pressure, it's not really a shave-ready edge.
Also, never let the blade rest anywhere on your skin-keep it moving!
That's a beautiful brush Doc is giving you-doesn't even look like it's been used!
Good advice about not letting the blade ever rest on the skin. I also found that by moving the blade before the stroke I wound up avoiding most cuts altogether (unless losing focus on the toe).
So I took a day off due because it was getting late and I needed to get to bed. I shaved last night and things are getting better. One minor cut on my right side burn area. Not enough to bleed but enough for me to see it today. The unfortunate part is the razor burn on my neck. I got a little aggressive because I'm impatient and want as smooth a shave with my straight after 3 days as I was getting with my DE.
Gentleman Doc47 has sent me a new brush (I cannot express my gratitude enough), and Colonel Conk is replacing the disheveled mess they sent me. Things can only get better! The journey of 1000 miles...

Doc47,
I received the brush yesterday and got in my first shave. What a difference a brush makes! I really enjoyed it. Thanks again.
