Picking out paddled strop need help and side question

Getting a paddled strop because I wanted to have material to put chromium oxide on and I don't like using the back of my strop (on the linen). Probably just going to get the SRD paddled strop, but if I do what from the SRD options do you like best for chromium oxide. I currently have Woodstock D2902 1-Pound Extra Fine Buffing Compound, Green would this be fine or would I need something else.

Side question. I just touched up my PRC Gryphon 8/8 on my thuri and the shave was amazing, BUT I shaved like 10 minutes after touch up and think I have a tiny rust spot (wouldn't come out from stropping). Do you guys wait a certain amount of time after honing razor before test shaving? I only did one pass and was extra careful keeping blade dry but sadly I think I will need to go to 8k to take rust out if it won't come out after I try stropping it again (hoping its linen or something stuck to bevel)

First most compounds are made of a mix if abrasives and are usually far coarser than you want to use on razors. There are some old threads where they checked the msds for them and it was surprising how coarse they were.

What we use for razors is 99 percent pure and graded to .5 micron chromium oxide.

Sounds like you need to get a loupe. Can get for a couple bucks off ebay and wont have to guess anymore.

I would suggest getting the CrOx spray from SRD (or another dedicated razor paste). I have a crayon like the Woodstock stuff, but find the result from a dedicated straight razor CrOx to be notably gentler on the face. Your green crayon will probably work, and by that I mean make the edge sharper at least. Just probably not as comfortable to shave with as it could be. Try it on a piece of newspaper or inside of a cereal box, that way you can trash the pasted media if you dislike the result.

I don't wait at all after honing a razor. They go straight from the water stone to the strop & shave test. If they pass the shave test I usually finish up the shave with the newly honed blade.

My paddle strop of choice has been the Lynn Abrams modular strop. I keep one of the hard wool pads treated with the Maestro Livi 0.5 micron crayon (which no longer appears to be available through SRD) and it's been sufficient to do touch up work or put a CrOx finish on a razor I've just finished honing. I will note, in order to prevent contamination, that I tend to remove all other pads when I use the chromium oxide and that I store that pad in a plastic sleeve when not in use.
