Hi,

This is my first post and I did my first shave with a straight yesterday. Before, I used Mach 3 cartridge and I thought that the shave was very close. But after my first shave with a straight, OMG!!! my skin feel so smooth and I cannot stop to touch my cheeks. The shave is closest than cartridge razors and than I expected.

This post is to thank you all for this forum and all the advices you post on those pages. I read a lot of posts here and I found a lot of informations to feel confident for my first try.

I will never looking back for cartridge razor and thanks to introduce me in the straight razor world.

Hehe, Been doing that for years. That close, clean, and comfortable straight razor shave is too nice not to appreciate.

Welcome to the forum, Boud. Congrats on your first straight razor shave. Besides being the closest form of shave one can get, it's also about a hundred times more fun than any other method. Talk about a win-win situation! :)

Welcome Boud, congrats on your enjoyment. This IMO is a much nicer way of shaving. Much more relaxing for sure. There will be ups and downs but you will get it.

Welcome and congrats for a fine straight FIRST shave! That's great. You sound like a natural. I remember my first straight shave. No where near smooth. Most of us have to "ramp-up" to a BBS shave.

And yes, I find myself touching the cheeks after a shave thinking, "Wow. Baby Butt Smooth for sure."

At the beginning, I was afraid to cut myself because the contact of the razor on my skin was not smooth enough. Then, I remove my old lather and make a new one with a little bit more water. With the new lather, the blade of the razor slid smoothly and easily. I hope that my next shave will be as pleasant as this one.

They will continue to get better, but be careful, that blade can bite you if you don't pay close attention.

Welcome. Glad you got a good start. I too had a good first shave. It went good and bad for a while till i figured out what works the best for me. A wet lather really helps. A Soapy thick layered lather is not always the best. I find more water helps my shaves a lot. Keep the angle low. One or two spine widths only from skin and no pressure. Enjoy the shaves and ask any questions you might have.

The tips and advices on Staight Razor Place help me a lot too. But there are too many things to think and remember while shaving with a straight. I guest that with more pratice and mistakes I will develop some "automatic" skills.

You wiill learn your face and the direction your beard grows better, but it will be a while before some things become automatic. Go slow and pay attention and you will learn more with each shave. Congratulations on the first shave success!
