Aloha from Maui 🤙🏽⚒️
After reading six thread pages regarding making a wedge for SE lather catchers it’s clear there are good quality people in this group. I’ve been blacksmithing just a year and not all that into making knives. I do however want to forge a wedge for my Griffon lather catcher. I’m brand new to SE and DE wet shaving and blades, just two shaves in off of cartridges.
Day one I bought a f3 Fatboy for $3 at at forever flea market. Day two I went back for the Slim, Flare, Super Speed($3 each), and the old Griffon ($15). Day three my sister gifts me my grandfather’s g2 Fatboy in the case with blue box razors and his little hairs.
I’m be asking for help from other blacksmiths in other groups. I’m happy to post photos of my progress if there’s interest. Mahalo for the add🤙🏽⚒️🪒

Yep. welcome to the forum! I'm a blacksmith (Wanna' be) too. I avoided doing any heat treating for a while because honestly the experts make it sound way more complicated than it needs to be. Get yourself some tool steel (like a old car spring) and give it a try. I've made some useful tools that way.

Shakas from Florida brah. Welcome and hope you find a home here. For sure post some pics of your gear. We love pics here. My niece lives near Honolulu. Hope to visit some day. Haven't surfed pacific waves since I lived in LA in '83.
