New to SRP and SR
Evening,
I’ve been lurking for a bit and figured I’d create an account. Wet shaver for just shy of 10 years. I really enjoy the closeness of an aggressive SE on my face and figured it was about time to make the jump to straights. A lot of reading sense then and will have a SR shortly.
I still need to get a hone. Looking at nabbing a Naniwa SS 12k for upkeep and already have a few strops.
A lot of great info on here! Thanks for having me.

Welcome Panhead. We're happy to have you with us. Make sure and post some pictures of your gear when you get your straight in. We love pictures. Also you might consider putting your location in your banner. Maybe there is someone close who can help if you need it. I think we all do from time to time. If it's your first straight shave just take it slow and don't sweat it too much on the tricky parts like chin and under it and around the nostrils. If you have an SE you can clean up with that to end your first few until you get the hang of it. Muscle memory takes a little time and there's no shame in cleaning up with a safety. Many of the old hands around here still do that.
Enjoy your stay and keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome to the group. You said you will have a SR soon. Did you order a Dovo? If so then you will need to send it out to be honed before its ready to use. No mater what they say. Whatever you buy let us know.
We are happy to help you get started. Enjoy the fun.

No, didn't order a Dovo. I thought about it. In the process of getting one of a select few that are actually ready from the get go. I'll post a pic up after I get it, it'll be a minute.

Looking for a razor? I have a Geo Wostenholm & Sons Original Pipe razor that was shortened by a previous owner. I've restored and honed it. Free to a new guy, you pay the shipping. PM me.

Welcome.
When I got my first straight razor I was strongly advised by some who I respect to get a very good vintage razor and have it professionally honed. It was very good advice for me. I've enjoyed a lot of shaves with that razor and I've bought a few more since then.

Take Ed up on bis offer. A shave ready razor (Im guessing) for a
5 to 1p bucks of shipping is something to take advantage of.
Good on you Ed. Its the SRP way!
