New/old member pops in with a quick question.
First up Hiya, I've been floating about on the yahoo group for some time now and even on straight-razor-place.com but I've not been reading for a long time (had twins about 20 months ago) ... I've used my straight on and off for a couple of years now but I've always given up since I got a better shave from my DE with less tugging. That said I've been using it exclusively now for about the the last 9 months and it's been getting better and better - the first epiphany was that 30 degrees is a lot shallower that I thought, which drastically reduced the tugging I was getting. I'm still not able to shave ATG without feeling like my cat having its fur stroked the wrong way (just don't try it at home kids :nono:)
Currently I've got a cheap 5/8 DOVO and an even cheaper 6/8 e-bay special made in china that has a pair of crossed arrows as the logo. I like the extra size and weight of the 6/8 but the DOVO has the edge in the sharpness stakes.
Any how I was thinking of treating myself to an anniversary present (or may just get the wife to treat me ;)) and getting a "better" razor (and a 3" Norton while I'm at it to simplify the honing) - low and behold a quick look at classic shaving shows a straight razor place limited edition (prompted me to start reading these forums again and re-register at the new domain) Is this a good buy or are there better options for similar money ?
Many Thanks - and sorry for the rambling post.
