For my fellow newbies who generate nicks and cuts, I want to strongly recommend Thayer's Medicated Superhazel with Aloe Vera, the one with the big blue label. That stuff is like GOLD when you've nicked yourself or gotten a small cut.
Just slap it on all over your cheeks and necks as the very first thing you do post-shave, before even your aftershave, and then your small cuts will stop bleeding.
This will NOT stop a large cut from bleeding...just the small, annoying stuff.

Thayer's rules for skin conditioning, On the ladies side, respecting who posted this thread.... My wife has switched to using Thayer's lavender, lemon, and rose for her legs after shaving!!!!
An alum block from classicshaving.com (or other places) is nice for that, too...
I mix the witch hazel with Loreal Comfort Max shave balm because the stuff is medicated and it works great when I have irritated my neck.
I'll have to try that. I recently got a new tattoo and have been using Bepanthen on it - it's an antibacterial nappy rash cream. I got curious and tried it on a bit of shaving burn (hey, we all talk about BBS!). It worked OK but it's greasy stuff...
