Default First shave(compliments of Dr. Fred)

The echeck finally cleared and the razor was on its way. After getting home from work today; I opened up the packaging, in front of my mom no less. "You're going to kill yourself with that!". Right. Now onto the showering and the shaving.

The shower was long and hot(as always). I scalded my face for a while with hot water, relaxed all my pores and such. As I exitted my shower and dried off, I remembered the "Don't shave naked" tip, and wrapped up in a towel. I put my brush to soak in hot water while i took an old belt that I hung on my hooks and stretched it straight. I gave the blade about 15 passes. It passed the HHT earlier so I wasn't too worried, thanks Dr. Fred. I lathered up and took my time. It took a few moments for me to find the comfortable angles for each spot. Luckily, I don't grow facial hair too tough or shave my chin(I sport a chin strap) so everything was smooth for the most part. It took a while, but it should.

The only blood drawn wasn't from incorrect use. My previous concern with the unsmoothness of some parts of my face because of acne proved itself. I sliced a pimple clear off... lol, but that's nothing a cartridge razor wouldn't do also. I got my upper lip pretty well down as well. The only real thing I didn't succeed on was my neck. It wasn't as close as I wanted it, have a bit of a shadow, but I only made a couple of passes with the grain. So in that respect it's ok.

I have to say, it's really cool shaving with a straight. It also takes a huge amount of concentration. I had to remind myself to breathe sometimes. Then there was that moment my towel fell.. but everything's still attached so no problems guys .
I'd like to buy one of Tony's strops soon, but other things must come first. I'm a convert to this amazing skill that so few nowadays still poses. First shave was pretty great, I made faces I didn't know I could make and had a lot of fun. I look forward to shaving next time!

I'd like to thank Dr. Fred for the Torrey he sold me(for a great price too!). Thanks everyone for info and support. It only gets better from here..

Shaved a couple more times and it's already getting better. I'm getting familiar with the angles, gaining [little] speed, and just generally getting a closer shave. Razor is sharp as ever. All it great .
