Yeah, you'll need to strop it before every shave. I'd make sure the strop you receive in that kit is smooth before running your razor over it. Does the strop come with canvas or leather? I would do maybe 25 passes on the linen (if it has linen) and about 40-60 passes on the leather. Actually, there a really good Stropping thread that Alan (AFDavis) posted just a week or so ago. I'll go find it...

In the meantime, your razor will need honed (or at least a touchup) more than once per year. If only once per week, and your stropping is good, you could probably go 4-5 months without a touch-up.
