Hi! I have a Dovo stainless steel razor that's about 30 years old and has rust on the tang around the pivot. Is there any easy way to clean it off without taking off the scales because I'm not very handy and don't have any tools.

You can try a few things. They sell these, like, minature cotton swabs women use for their nails and saturate one with some metal cleaner or you could try a cape cod polishing cloth and try and get it as far down as you can. The only way to really clean it though if you want perfection is to remove the scales.
Couple of other things that I have used
Dental floss after a drop of penetrating oil....
I think what the Spendur is talking about are actually called eye makeup removers/ nail polish removers,,,,, and yes they do work rather well (my wife is ready to kill me)...
Also I have used the 2 inch gun cleaning patches they work pretty good too..
I don't think any of these are all that easy though they do require patience
I was going to try the actual polishing cord available at RC stores but haven't actually seen any yet other than online....
I use the cotton buds that were originally made for cleaning ear wax etc.

Dab on a little mass and your cruising. Also crumple up some tin-foil (aluminium foil) and rub it inside the scales.
MAAS is a metal polishing product. :) I haven't gotten any yet but word is its really good.
