Default Show And Tell! My first straight razor just arrived!

    Good afternoon gentlemen,

I have just opened my Chistmas present to myself (I've been a very good boy this year, so I think thats okay..) and after a lot of interest, a lot of research, and a lot of walking back and forth to the mailbox anxiously...... I now have a straight razor. I bought it from a guy who owns a knife store 2 hours west of Toronto who makes leather strops also. (I was in the store a month ago but he mailed me the razor... long story.... anyway, it's honed and ready to go)

I've been feverishly reading the forums here, and watching how-to videos on Youtube and I guess the big moment comes this weekend! (I just shaved this morning!! GRRRRR!!!) Well, the Mach 3 is a thing of the past in my bathroom, and I'm soon going to join the ranks of a straight-razor man. I have recieved a lot of great feedback from a lot of people on this website and really appreciate all the support you give us beginners, and think this is a fantastic site.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Is that a King Cutter? It looks like that's what it says on the face of the blade.... I have 3 King Cutters, you'll be pleased with it. Boker's definitely a respectible brand. Enjoy!

    Default Very observant of you.

WOW!! I never noticed that untill you said that!

Yes, yes, indeed it in a King Cutter, and I just went and looked at the blade.....

I'm very happy with this razor, I haven't shaved with it yet, I'm thinking I might wanna watch Lynn's DVD first, so ya know, I still have a face left after the shave.

Outstanding!!! Santa came earlier, just for you ;-). I do not own a Boker but people say a lot of nice things about them. Did Santa also bring a strop? If so, do not delay. Happy shaving... ;-)

    Al raz.

King Cutters are nice shavers. Has yours been honed? I couldn't tell for sure from the photos but they make me think that it hasn't. If not, you are almost sure to be disappointed with your first shave. Also, do you have a strop? You definitely need one.
Have fun with your new toy!
