My method is to run hot water into my lather bowl, with the brush in it. I do this while I am stropping my razor (60 laps). By the time I am finished, I build my lather and it stays warm on the brush.

I keep my lather as hot as possible, which is usually between warm and hot :) I typically fill my sink half-full with hot lather, whip up the lather and put the bowl down into the water. This is best done with glycerin soaps, as other cakes tend to dry out.
You could also find yourself a nice scuttle.
A scuttle works well for warm lather. Check out Georgetown Pottery or Christopher Moss Scuttle.
I prefer warm lather.

I just tried somthing new. I have a candle warmer that my wife bought, I put some soap on my brush and then build the lather in a ceramic bowl and place the bowl on the candlewarmer. Leave it there for a few minutes and then you have a nice hot lather.
^^ I hear candle warmers can work very well!
I prefer warm lather but don't hunt it nowadays so much. I have tried different kind of bowl insted for searching a perfect shape for my needs.
I usually soaked my brush as hot as tap could give and that's it.
If I want more heat on my face or longer prep work I do double hot towel treatment with pre oil massage between towels.
As a Finn the best and longest warm up is sauna. After that there is no matter how hot or cold the lather is.:nj
