I am contemplating buying this, but I am clueless when it comes to strosp (still new to this), but need a strop.

I'd probably stay away from that one... I figure it's not worth the risk of wasting a little money on it. I think that for a little more than that (say... 50 USD) you can get a nice strop that really does the job. I sugest you check out Kenrup's strops, Matt's Proforma strops and - of course - Tony Miller's starter strops (the latter sells for under 40 USD I beleive). Better safe than sorry, I guess... if you are to invest money on anything that is necessary to be of good quality to do its job, don't go for cheap stuff. Sometimes what's cheap turns out to be a lot more expensive...

Tony Miller sells his beginner's strop for about $20, but he won't be back until January. You might place an ad in the classified's. I also hear good things about Damon's strops, which are also inexpensive. Here's his website: Proforma Strops
Don't skimp on the strop. Think about it this way- you're going to be slapping your nicely honed razor against this thing 50 times every time you shave. If it's not quality, you're going to spend the difference of a good strop to get the razor re-honed, then more money for a suitable strop. It's a pain in the wallet region of the ass, but it's worth it, I promise. I went from a decent looking strop that felt ok to a Tony Miller paddle. It was like night and day! Ever since I've been a Tony herald:rock:
Ultimately, the cheapest will be the one that will last the longest all the while doing the best job. The one with the lowest "Buy It Now" price is the lowest initial investment, but most often not the cheapest in the long run. That's my official justification for buying expensive razors, hones, strops, brushes, etc., anyway :D
