    Default Newbie and a Shave

    I made a post about a razor I got and it's no way close to being a real Str8razor. Well I have it shaving sharp (arm hair) so I tried a face shave. Now since I'm new and I'm just starting to get stuff, I had to use cream from a can for my first shave. Let me tell You this... I'm hooked, Yes I said "I'M HOOKED" .

    I got a really nice shave for a crappy razor & can cream, but it was nice. I did better with this razor then most of the throw away razor I have tried.

    So now I have to get brush, soap, mug (I have lots of them) a better strop & a bigger/better wet stone.

    The only cut/nick I got is on my upper lip. I just wanted to share this with everyone.

    Now that you have given your blade an edge, you will discover the benefits of straight shaving. YOu need a strop and brush and soap since you have the mug already. Do not spend too much on your first strop and try to get a badger brush.

    ladies and gentlemen we have reeled in another one congrats on a great shave str8 shaving is highly addictive i look forward to every chance i get to shave i am on a daily recruiting mission myself trying to get people to switch to a srt8 i always love to hear people say you shave with a what

    Welcome!... I just started with cheap soap, a bore brush and a shavette... then I replaced the shavette with a real straight and a strop...

    A boar bristle brush and Williams shaving soap from WalMart (about $10) beats the heck out of any canned goo. I personally would get a small pure badger brush. A small Vulfix pure badger is about $35. Badger is worth the $30 it takes to trade up, but bristle is fine in the beginning. Just say no to the can.

    Later you can (and you will) start accumulating soaps and cremes.
