I think going over the same area too many times is the main cause of razor burn , at least it was for me. As your technique improves it settles into a "healthy glow" lasting just a few minutes, and eventually you just get a clean shave.

I sweep lather off the blade with my finger too, it's a good way to check the whole blade is cutting well, and besides, it's just so satisfying seeing all that stubble that's been swept off your face. If you use a stropping-style swipe it's fairly safe, but I bet I'll get careless one day.

Those could both add up to an indication of a rolled edge. Cutting yourself while sliding your finger down the edge + irritation = rolled edge. Its possible. Use less pressure when shaving and strop a lot more next time.

possibly a rolled edge, although when i cut my finger i stupidly ran my finger over the blade very fast, so i think i might of angled it enough for the cut.

next time i will strop a good amount and use less pressure, thanks for the replies

caution blade is sharp but i can beat that one, before i knew how to properly do a hht i held the hair in one hand and used the razor like a sword making a swift cut well i darn near cut the end of my finger off slicing right through my fingernail that is one lesson i learned the hard way but take the advice and ship it to a honemeister everybody makes mistakes now and then just laugh about it and keep on truckin
