...not your ass, but the razor! When you're shaving with a straight do you wipe or rinse when the blade is full of soap?
Rinse, hot water. Wipe with a clean, dry towel when I'm finished shaving.
I think this topic would warrant a poll. :)
Wipe. Never forget the day I dinged my mint Puma on the tap.
On the other topic, when in Australia I wipe when in Japan I rinse.(best toilets in the world.)

Both. Learned the hard way to have the spine facing the faucet. Then wipe with the towel. One side benefit to having the hot water touch the blade is that it warms the blade. Oh yeah, then I can feel the love... :y
Rinse for both. It just feels cleaner. But when I go back to Oz I will have to get used to whiping again.
During my shave I wipe the lather off the razor, then I only rine it at the end. I'm still pretty new and I am kinda worried I will tap the faucet or something, so I don't want to rise a lot.:D
I always rinse and so far have remembered to keep the spine facing the faucet just in case I get my razor to close to it.
I like the fact that the water keeps the blade warm to the touch on my face.
Hot water rinse, then dry with towel without touching the edge, then "strop" it dry on the towel.
I had though of strating a thread like this but with a poll. I often wonder about the same thing.
I always wipe the blade. It's not only a way of saving water, but also a way of saving a blade from getting nicked by a less precise motion. And in the balttle between a razor and a tap... the tap wins! It has also become sort of a ritual. It's part of my shaving routine and it's my way of doing it.
I vote wipe! :D Plus, you get to see the wiskers you shaved! It's messy, though...
I wipe during the shave, which gives me a chance to see the whiskers in the lather. Then rinse and dry afterward with a light coat of baby oil on the blade until it comes back up in the rotation.
often thought of draping a towel over my arm and just wiping the razor...
then thought how much the wife would like seeing those towels filled with shaving soap and whiskers..
I rinse :) we'll see how camping goes this summer
I just tried using a small plastic squirty bottle to rinse lather off the blade. It's safer than going under the tap and more effective than dunking the blade in still water. And a little less messy than wiping on a towel.
I give the squirty bottle 2x :tu:tu
rinse then dry and apply oil to prevent waterspots
Wipe on palm of hand during shave. A hot water rinse and dry after shave.
I wipe during the shave with my finger (very carefully) and I rinse.. after the shave I rinse, whipe dry, "strop" on a towel and I'm done.
I used to wipe when i first started, but never liked the mess & was rinsing within a couple of weeks. There's a risk i guess, but it's calculated & that's the way i like to do it.
I'm going away on a trip this weekend to a resort in Phuket. Because they won't be my towels I don't have to worry about keeping them clean. I intend to give wiping a try for a change. But once I get back home I will have to go back to rinsing.
It seems like there is some confusion as to whether he was referring to post shave or during the shave. I think he meant during but I'll hit both to be safe.
During the shave I give it a swish in the sink, always spine down so that I don't tap the bottom with the edge. I've never come near the faucet so it's not a worry of mine. Then I wipe the water off with a towel and continue destroying my facial hair.
After the shave I rinse the blade under hot running water, wipe it dry on a towel, do a couple small laps on the heel of my palm to make sure the water is gone from the edge, set it down while I finish up, and finally do about 20 or so laps on the leather.
Sometimes when I go crazy I'll oil all my blades but for the most part I don't. The bathroom I use is the guest bathroom so moisture from the shower is never an issue.
rinse ... then later .. cold water rinse.
