Put it this way. Can I interest you in a Norton flattening stone, hardly used? :w

Thanks for all the info. I think since I just need to touch up my razor, I will purchase the Naniwa 10k hone. Once again thank you for all the help.
I have a prehoned Wapi, and I bought a barber's hone and Chinese 12k, and I have .5 and .25 diamond paste. All have their benefits on keeping a sharp edge. I dont have CrOx yet, but I will but it from japanese knif sharpening or on here from a fellow user.
I bought a FWE Special in excellent conditon and just ordered a Double Arrow to work my honing skills on.
Hopefully, I can learn and not mess up any of my good blades before getting it right.
I don't have a 4/8k or coticule, but the barbers hone I got is more like a 6k then a polishing stone.
cheers

The 4000/8000 and a leather strop are all you really need. The finer finishing stones and/or pasted strops are nice to have, but not really necessary.
I haven't read all the other posts, but the Norton 4k/8k setup is great. sharpeningsupplies dot com has a 220k/1k with a 4/8k and a lapping plate on special. Right there, you'd be good to go. Pick up a Chinese 12k for 20 or 30 bucks and you got a great finisher. If money is no object, I'd grab a Coticule and BBW. Depends on your budget....Rich
