New York strop and hone tuteledge

I am a hands on learner, I know this from my work and other hobbies. No matter how much reading and video watching I do here, on the wiki and over at B and B, I still learn by doing. And there is no better way than learning with a someone watching over your shoulder, to help correct those beginners mistakes. After all unlearning bad habits is really hard.

So I just wanted to know if there are any other members in NYC, that have been doing the strop and hone thing for a while, and if you'd be willing to help an absolute beginner? I recently came across this post, which is where I got the idea.
