I have been looking for an alum block online for a few days now and was wondering, is there any difference between the different brands?
They all do exactly the same thing, does a brand name really matter?

I highly doubt that brand name is going to make much of a difference. I use an AOS Alum Block and it works just fine.
I don't know that there is any difference between brands, except the price. I use Classic Shaving's alum block and have been quite happy with it.
I also use the alum block from classic shaving. I really doubt that there'd be a difference between brands. It's essentially just a block of salt, so I don't different brands having any affect on the composition of it.
I use the one from Classic as well it works good for me.
as long as it;s potassium alum, i don't think the label on the package makes too much of a difference.
Thanks everyone, for clearing that up for me.
I can recomend vintagescent.com who sells 444 Alum block, cheap and good.
I also wrote a review of the 444 alum block recently..hope it helps

FYI.
Tulumba.com has alum for $2.99
I think Alum is one of those products that differs only in price across brands. There's no scent, there's no technology, there's no value-add... it's just a bloc. So, the only thing that does vary is what it comes in. I've bought Bloc Osma in a cardboard box, and a Carter & Bond which comes in a hard plastic case. The latter keeps better, especially when travelling.
Otherwise, go for the cheapest you can find! Because it's pretty much the same stuff all round.
