Hey everyone, I'm new on here, names Chris. I have been wanting to get a straight edge razor for awhile now, but I was just never sure what to get, from where, etc.
The only place I know of near me is "the art of shaving"
I am interested in getting a razor/shaving cream/brush and I don't really know what else I need, a strop?
Where can I get these from? I'm lookin to buy something fairly nice. What is a good price, place to buy, online, or retail etc..

Oki looked through the site, and saw a Dovo starting kit which came with a blade + strop for $150 that I liked. What else do I need then? A brush, shaving cream, a stand? And do I need any of these oils or stuff they sell
A brush is nice to have and a puck of shaving soap or jar of cream. I like a silvertip brush personally. A stand is optional. I have never used any of the oils but many do and they seem to like them. If you go to the SRP Wiki there are articles on what you need to get started and how to use what you get to your best advantage.Quote:

The set from SRD will perform well for you as far as a first razor/strop are concerned.

Yes, you will need a strop. Besides the classifieds, look through the Verndor's Corner forum. I believe all the vendors posting there are also members. They have reputations to keep with all of us so you would be getting quality items. :gl:

As a new guy here myself I'd recommend the Straight Razor Designs place as well. I received my Dovo/Strop order today and let me tell you.... fast shipping, excellent packaging and good folks to deal with. Just my .02 cents.

i hope you will enjoy this as much as i have. lot of great help from the members here. i would also like to reccomend vintagebladesllc i bought a dovo pearlex from them and it is one great shave. just ordered a 3" latigo strop and norton 4000/8000 also. jim who runs the store is a great help and is
