Hello Everbody
I am thinking of trying Proraso shave cream. Any comments about how this product works for you would be appreciated. Also does anybody know if it is available in and stores locally ?
Thank You

It's great stuff. I can't imagine being without a tube of Proraso.
Goshawk
+1. I've tried a lot of different soaps but a tube of Proraso (Bigelow) and a puck of Colleen's Cavendish Black will always be in my cabinet.
Edit
More to the point, I find the Proraso gives a fantastic lather and a very smooth, slippery shave. Plus I like the cool menthol feeling it gives you - especially when I shave my head!
Yeah, menthol is good. Especcially in the summer time. It gives You a great cooling effect.
I was in Italy in this spring, and get some for me. It's very good IMHO.
You can find some here:
Georg's barbershop
Or here:

or here:

I think it is one of the best creams
I havn't tried the cream. The green soap is a little too mentholated for me. White one is sweeter but hard to lather.
BUT if you ask about the aftershaves. The balm and the splash will always be in my cabinet. ALWAYS.
hi, I have both, soap in plastic container and cream in a tube. Both work nicely both the cream in a tube is excellent. Also I use Proraso pre-shave cream and it does a fine job. I recommand Proraso soap, cream and preshave. Cream to all. Plus it's cheap 5$ to 8$.
This is one of the best creams I have tried to date and it performs quite better than others I have tried in substantially higher price brackets IMO. Two of the best things about it are the (1) the slickness, and (2) it is virtually foolproof when it comes to lathering (i.e. the cream/water ratio is very forgiving). Plus I love the menthol and eucalyptus scent. Great stuff!
+1. I have the C.O. Bigelow repackage from Bath & Body Works and I like it.
Just used the Bigelow/Proraso cream the other day and I used the white "soap" today...love Proraso
for additional opinions, you might want to check the reviews section also
menthol is awesome, especially with a coldwater wash at the end of the shave
I normally dislike menthol and eucalyptus, but CO Bigelow is one of my favorite creams. Give it a try.
i got a jar of the PRE shave cream, its way too heavily mentholated. burns. so bad i cant feel the razor touching my skin.
cant speak for the actual shave creams
Do other things with menthol (say, Aqua Velva AS) have the same effect? I seem to recall some percentage of people are sensitive to the eucalyptus, rather than the menthol.
I like the soap and the cream (and the pre-shave). I will note that the Bigelow cream seems to be about the same formula, but it has much more water and is runnier than the real Proraso. So you'll use a drier brush and more cream with the Bigelow than with the genuine Proraso cream, which is very thick.
i liked the Green tub until i used the White, which i now like better. i have sensitive skin though. i tried the pre shave cream and didn't find it to make a difference at the time, but i may try it again as it didn't make things worse.
my only problem with it is that it really isn't natural and has quite a few chemicals in it i guess. not a big deal to most but is something to keep in mind. definitely easy to use and great for someone getting into wet shaving for that reason.
I haven't used the cream in a tube, but I have used the little green tub with great results! Its simply one of the easiest soaps to lather. Plus, its very inexpensive and readily available, so if you want to lather right on the soap, its okay! Not sure where you'd find it locally, but almost every major drugstore chain has it, at least in Canada. I'm sure there are members here closer to you who could point you in the right direction! Welcome and enjoy!
For Fathers Day, Bath & Body Works is selling two tubes for the price of one. Its under the Bigelow label but is the Proraso product. Stock up gents.

I use proraso shaving soap with aloe and green tea. The smell takes me back to downtown Havana 50's and the smell of diesel smoke from the public buses, it is also a good shaving soap. Juan.
