Haven't seen this one around in a while, so here goes :p
At the moment I have 16 sharpening stones / hones that get used regularly. All but one are water stones and one oil stone.
3 Naturals and the rest are synthetic.
Nope HAD has no control on me :fim:
Just a Norton 4k/8k for now.
A King 1000, and a Spyderco Fine and Ultra Fine. Seems to be sufficient, so far. :D
3-DMT coarse, extra fine, extra extra fine

3 knife sharpening hones- these really shouldn't count should they? I mean they aren't related to my razors. I just bought them so I could hone the kitchen knives (and SWMBO would see some benefit from my honing skills).
I have 4 now. But have gone through 5 total till now.

I get HHT+ razors with these after the strop with paste. These aren't the best I am told, but they work and this combo lets me do everything form set bevels to final polishing.
I have:
DMT D8C (325 grit)
DMT D6EF (600/1200 dual grit in the 6" version)
Norton 4k/8k that was cut in half to make it narrow
Vintage coticule/BBW glued combo 6 1/4" x 1 1/4"
8" x 2" Coticule
6" x 1 1/2" Coticule
A little Coticule/BBW glued combination slurry stone
6" x 1 1/4" Yellow/Green Celebrated Water Razor Hone (essentially an escher)
5" x 1" Dark Blue Celebrated Water Razor Hone in Box

Hmm, lets see I have a few Nortons, a Coticule, Blue Belgian, a Kitayama, a vintage Escher,a Natural Japanese Finisher and a Swaty.
Thirty-six, not counting slivers and pieces, but a couple are duplicates. Specific razor finish hones- 3
- Norton 1k
- Norton 4k
- Norton 8k
- Escher
- BBW/Coticule combo
And some other stuff I luckily bought from Joe Chandler. Bought them because they were affordable at the time. For a beginner, a 4/8k Norton plus maybe a finishing hone still seems like a very good option, at least price wise.
I'm just getting into this, but I've got a Norton 4k/8k, an Arkansas (I think), a 3 line Swaty, and a DMT coarse to keep the Norton flat.
I reeeeally want a BBW/coticule combo.
Haha ya some of my hones/sharpening stones are primary for kitchen knives, but I do use them in restoration work.
Zero! :) Anyone have an extra dual Coticule that they hate and would like to donate to a college newbie I am all ears ;)!

I want to thank JMS for the quick intro and demo of how to do it too. Was nice to see it done by someone that knows their hobby instead of having to watch videos and hoping for the best on my own.

Those 3 get me by very well these days. I do want to purchase a Norton 220/1k soon though. I have a few razors sitting around that would do better on the 1k as far as getting them restored to shave ready.
