Welcome to SRP. There are more experienced restorers, and blade cleaners, than me, but i'm sure they will agree with me in the following:
If You just want to polish the blade, use some Maas, or Flitz, or any other metal polish.
If there is more to do than only polishing, You will need to sand the blade, but that's another story.
Aniway, You can find some wery helpful hints in the Wiki area.
Daz first off welcome to SRP.... :)
You really might want to do some browsing in the Workshop forum to get an idea of what things are even capable when it comes to polishing out blades...
It basically runs from using some metal polish on a rag, to felt wheels and a Dremel, all the way to Buffers and greaseless compounds, to Knife grinders and total re-finishing of the blades....
So when you say polishing you opened a very large doorway here...
You're a technaphobe? You've got an iPhone! I still only carry a pager, and that's only because of my job.
If you want better help, you either need to give a better description or borrow a camera from someone else. Alternatively, I assume you newfangled iphone has a camera, so just use that. The camera in that thing is still probably better than my old camera.
thanks everybody. The blade is not pitted , just discoloured (blackish) and only in a couple of places. The edge is fine
Start with MAAS, Flitz, Simichrome, or Blue Magic Metal cleaner/polish on a rag and see how that goes first...
ps: Polishing a blade will dull a shave ready razor...
cheers glen. I'll see what I can get tomorrow. We may not have those in England. Are they the same as chrome cleaners?
